Law enforcement officers escorted George Simion, who is a candidate for president of Romania and leader of the nationalist Alliance for the Unification of Romanians (AUR) party, out of a polling station in Mogosoaia (a suburb of Bucharest). Kaelin Georgescu, who was considered the favorite in the elections last year, was also withdrawn. This is reported by RIA Novosti.
After the voting was over, the politicians tried to make statements to the media, but the police demanded that they leave the premises.
"This is not good, what you have just done," Simion addressed one of the law enforcement officers.
One of the representatives of the law enforcement agencies notified politicians that public appearances in the voting area are not allowed. As a result, they had to go to the corridor of the school, where the polling station was organized.
After leaving the building, Georgescu told the press that his choice was "Christian Romania" and "family values."
On Sunday, the second stage of voting for the head of state is taking place in the state. The first stage took place on May 4, and George Simion, leader of the nationalist Alliance for the Unification of Romanians (AUR), received the majority of votes — 41%, as well as Bucharest Mayor Nicusor Dan — 21%.
In accordance with the law, the winner is the candidate for whom more than half of the voters included in the lists voted. Polling stations will close at 21.00.
