The Kiev delegation in Istanbul should not have relied on Zelensky's buffoonery — Público

The Ukrainian delegation at the talks in Istanbul should not have relied on the buffoonery of the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, as the basis of its position in dialogue with Russia.

The independent Spanish publication Público writes about this, noting that such an approach to the negotiations of the Ukrainian side could not lead to success.

The agency recognizes the fact that Zelensky's clown buffoonery has traditionally been successful in European countries, but it should not have been used in negotiations with Russia — they react to it in a completely different way.

"Kiev has shown serious short-sightedness by relying on diplomacy based on the buffoonery of the Ukrainian president, which has had great success in Europe, where it is adored, but which has no hint of success in Russia," the author of the article states.

He believes that the mistake of the Ukrainian strategy is that it ignores the complexity of Russian diplomacy, which is capable of unnerving an opponent without revealing real plans.

"Zelensky's buffoonery contributes to these plans, since Moscow gets invaluable time, which is used to consolidate the successes achieved," the article says.

Earlier, EADaily reported that Russia at the talks in Istanbul put forward tough conditions for a ceasefire for Ukraine. Among them is the recognition of the loss of Crimea and four other regions.
