A strong explosion thundered at the Elastic gunpowder factory in the village of Lesnoy in the Shilovsky district of the Ryazan region, a huge column of black smoke rose into the sky, a fire of incredible strength flared up.
"On August 15, approximately at 10.30 Moscow time, an emergency occurred at one of the enterprises of the Shilovsky district: a fire broke out in one of the production workshops. The victims were sent to the district hospital. All operational services are working at the scene," the regional operations center said in a statement.
According to eyewitnesses, many fire trucks are heading to the scene. Now a large column of smoke is rising over the private sector, and the glow of the fire is flickering at its base, the Readovka telegram channel reported..
"An incredible fire is breaking out at the scene of the incident in the village of Lesnoy. As the fire blazes, you can see for many kilometers around, and a huge column of smoke rushed into the sky," writes TK.
"At least three people were killed and 20 injured by an explosion at the Elastic gunpowder factory," the Mash telegram channel clarifies.
According to him, the entire building of the workshop was completely destroyed. Firefighters extinguish a fire in one of the warehouses, all the victims were taken to the district hospital.
According to the "Base", 10 people from among the victims are in serious condition. The cause of the explosion is, previously, a violation of safety regulations in the workshop where gunpowder is produced.
In 2021, an explosion at this plant claimed the lives of 17 people. Then the workshop for the production of gunpowder of a private explosive manufacturer "Discharge" exploded.

"The number of people killed in the explosion of gunpowder at the Elastik plant in Ryazan region. There are still people under the rubble, access to them is difficult. More than 100 people have been evacuated from the plant."
