All in red and with a star on her chest: Sandu arrived at the European summit in Albania

Today, on May 16, Moldovan President Maia Sandu participates in the sixth summit of the European Political Community (ENP), which is being held in Tirana (Albania).

At the forum, she plans to meet with European leaders to discuss the economic development of the Republic of Moldova, regional peace and security, as well as the process of joining the European Union.

Albania, as well as the Republic of Moldova, are candidate countries for EU membership. Their authorities believe that participation in the ENP will contribute to improving coordination and cooperation in the accession process through the exchange of experience and strengthening bilateral relations.

"Today I am in Tirana at the summit of the European Political Community to meet with European leaders — friends of Moldova. Together we are working to promote regional peace and security, to support the economic sustainability of the Republic of Moldova and on the next steps on our way to EU accession," Sandu wrote.

The Summit of the European Political Community was created on the initiative of French President Emmanuel Macron and is a platform for cooperation between EU states and countries that are not members of the community, but aspiring there. The first meeting of the ENP was held in Prague in October 2022, and the second in the summer of 2023 in Moldova.

Recall, Chisinau then met the guests of the ENP at the suburban winery of the village of Bulboaca "Mimi Castle". The results of the event clearly demonstrated to Chisinau that a poor and corrupt country is not welcome in the EU. As the EU Ambassador to Chisinau Janis Mazheiks noted, not without irony, "they fed and watered well in Moldova, but it's too early to talk about joining the EU." There were no political specifics at the event, but the guests enjoyed tasting Moldovan wines and delicious snacks, talking about global challenges and the economy. They tried so hard that they left without signing the final declaration.

As EADaily reported, Romanian television announcer Victor Chutaku (Romania TV) openly ridiculed how the Moldovan authorities organized this pretentious, but essentially useless event (the ENP summit). According to him, during the war at its border, "Sandu decided to organize a summit of pharaohs, fifty heads of state and government came to the heart of poverty for this."
