In Egypt, the police are massively detaining citizens of Russia, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, despite the legality of their stay in the country. This is reported by IA 24 kg.
"They detained me when I was going to prayer, showed me my documents that I was studying at a university, but they took me away anyway. They didn't give me food, water, slept on the tile, didn't let me go to the toilet. So that we don't pray, they handcuffed us in twos and threes and extorted money," the agency quotes a message on the social network of one of the students detained in Cairo.
It is noted that personal belongings are irretrievably seized from detainees.
According to the agency, the existence of such facts was confirmed by diplomats of Uzbekistan.
As stated in the Uzbek Embassy in Egypt, "recently, local law enforcement agencies have been actively investigating the legality of the stay in the country of many foreigners, including those who came to study." The diplomatic mission added that as of May 13, five citizens of Uzbekistan were detained.
