During the fighting in the special military operation zone (SMO), former deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and former Russian prisoner Nadezhda Savchenko was killed.
This information was published in his Telegram channel by military blogger Vladimir Romanov. According to him, the former people's deputy died as a result of a strike by the Russian Aerospace Forces FAB-3000, inflicted on the headquarters of the 112 brigade of the TRO of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
"Nadezhda Savchenko, who was the company commander of the 131 battalion of this brigade, closed her eyes," the author of the post specified.
Romanov did not say where exactly the headquarters of the Ukrainian unit was hit. However, earlier the Ukrainian media confirmed the information that Savchenko is indeed a company commander in the 112th brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which is fighting on Pokrovsky direction.
Nadezhda Savchenko was detained on the territory of the Voronezh Region on June 23, 2014. In 2016, the Donetsk City Court (Rostov region) found her guilty of the massacre of Russian journalists Igor Kornelyuk and Anton Voloshin.
The defendant was sentenced to 22 years of imprisonment in a Russian colony. Later, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on pardon and she was exchanged for Russians Yevgeny Yerofeyev and Alexander Alexandrov convicted by the Kiev court.
Nadezhda Savchenko's return to Ukraine was noted in Kiev with great fanfare. The then president of the country Petro Poroshenko awarded her the title of Hero of Ukraine, she became a deputy of the Verkhovna Rada from the Batkivshchyna party.
However, Nadezhda's political career did not go well. After a series of scandals, she was already in a Ukrainian prison on charges of treason. In the early days of the armed conflict with Russia, Savchenko mobilized into the army, where she headed the company of the 131 battalion of the 112 brigade of the TRO.
As EADaily reported, the last scandal around Nadezhda Savchenko occurred in November 2024. She appealed to the SBU and the State Security Bureau with a demand to check the activities of MP Mariana Bezugla for treason and disclosure of state secrets. This was a response to a similar statement by Bezugla in the SBU regarding Savchenko.
