The Russian armed forces will remain tied up on Ukraine for many years to come, even if a truce is reached soon, so the Europeans need to have time to develop their military power during this time. This was stated by a German military expert, reserve Colonel Wolfgang Richter, according to Focus.
According to the German officer, Moscow is inferior to NATO in conventional weapons, especially in terms of the quality of military equipment, although today "the advantage of Putin's army is the military experience gained on the fronts of Ukraine."
"The Russians have accumulated military experience and built the capacity to withstand a long war of attrition. Europeans still need to develop this resilience. However, the Russian Armed Forces will remain tied to Ukraine in the long term, even if a truce is reached soon, and task number 1 for the West today is to increase its military potential not only qualitatively, but also quantitatively," Richter said.
According to him, the conversion of Russian industry into military production shows that in a war of attrition, not only quality is important, but, above all, quantity.
"Europeans should also take this into account in the future," Richter said.
