Statements by US President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio about a possible withdrawal from the negotiation process on Ukraine are a gift to Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
The American edition of The New York Times writes about this with concern, expressing suspicion that the Washington administration is "washing its hands" and abandoning further peace efforts.
"This option can be traced in Mr. Rubio's warnings that "this is not our war," and that "we have other priorities to focus on." < Whatever Mr. Rubio had in mind, his words were the last American gift to Mr. Putin," the publication says.
It is also pointed out that there is no clear American plan to resolve the conflict. Only the demonstrated desire to stop it is clear. At the same time, Europe considers it quite likely that the United States will be "removed" from the Ukrainian issue and is already trying to figure out how to support the Kiev regime without Washington's help.
As EADaily reported, on the eve of US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that if there is no clear path to peace in the near future, In Ukraine, the United States will move away from its mediation efforts to establish it.
