Washington's proposal for a 30-day truce in the Ukrainian conflict gives Russia nothing and is only an opportunity for Ukraine to regroup its forces, said presidential aide Yuri Ushakov.
"A 30-day temporary truce. Well, what does it give? It gives us nothing. It only gives Ukrainians the opportunity to regroup, gain strength and continue the same in the future," the Kremlin spokesman told reporters, quoted by TASS.
Ushakov added that the Russia "will also have direct negotiators who will discuss the Ukrainian dossier with the Americans."
"At least that's the way it's been agreed at the moment," the Kremlin spokesman said.
The presidential aide also said that at the same time he himself would continue to interact on the Ukrainian issue with US representatives "through his own channels."
As EADaily reported, special envoy of the US President Steve Witkoff arrived in Moscow today in order to convince the Russian authorities to sign an agreement on a 30-day cease-fire on Ukraine, which Kiev agreed to earlier in the course of negotiations in Jeddah with the American side. A telephone conversation between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump is scheduled for the evening.
Ushakov today on the Rossiya-1 channel noted that Moscow's position on the need for a long-term settlement on Ukraine was outlined to Waltz. In this regard, the Russian authorities hope that Washington will take into account their demands.
