The United States will strive to ensure that Ukraine, as a result of the settlement of the conflict and the peace agreement with Russia, returns as many lost territories as possible.
This statement was made by US President Donald Trump at the first meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, broadcast by the White House press service.
"We will do our best to conclude the best agreement for both sides. But as for Ukraine, we will try very hard so that they can return as much as possible," the American leader said.
This is how he answered a journalist's question about whether China would receive a "dangerous signal" if Russia "manages to keep the territory it claims by force."
The President did not specify which territories could be included in a possible agreement, but stressed that his goal was to end the conflict on terms that would be beneficial to both sides. When asked if Russian President Vladimir Putin would have to make concessions, Trump replied:
"Yeah. He'll have to."
Recall that the Russian side excludes the possibility of territorial concessions in favor of Ukraine and requires it to withdraw troops from controlled parts of Donbass, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions to end the conflict.
As reported by EADaily, earlier US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that the removal of restrictions from Moscow and territorial concessions demanded by the Kremlin from Kiev were not discussed during negotiations with Russia.
