Reuters: Three tankers exploded in Mediterranean Sea for a month

Over the past month, three tankers have been damaged in The Mediterranean Sea as a result of the explosions, Reuters reports, citing three sources in the field of shipping and security.

According to the agency, all the explosions occurred separately from each other, and the details of the explosions are unknown. At the end of January, the Seacharm oil tanker operated by Thenamaris was damaged near the Turkish port of Ceyhan. In February, a Grace Ferrum chemical tanker flying the flag of Liberia was damaged off the coast of Libya, the newspaper writes.

On the eve of the newspaper Fatto Quotidiano reported two explosions on the oil tanker Seajewel, moored in the port of the Italian city of Savona. According to the newspaper, the ship arrived from Algeria under the flag of Malta on February 14.

Corriere della Sera wrote that the crew of the tanker reported two loud explosions in the evening of the same day, they occurred during the unloading of oil. After that, a hole was found in the hull of the vessel.

As a result of the emergency, no one was injured, no oil leak was recorded. According to Fatto Quotidiano, the Savona prosecutor's office is considering different versions of what happened, including a tanker breakdown, a collision or an explosion of ammunition.

The port authority said that "some anomalies" were noticed during the unloading of oil, and therefore technical checks are currently being carried out on the ship.
