Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), is confident that American oil companies will "at some point" return to Russia.
"We believe that at some point they will return. Why should they miss opportunities to gain access to the natural resources of Russia that Russia has given them?" he said in an interview with The New York Times (NYT) in Riyadh, where he participates in Russian-American negotiations.
Dmitriev noted that these companies "conducted a very successful business" in the Russian Federation. He also stressed that at the talks he would try to restart economic cooperation with the United States, as well as "restore communications, trust and success," TASS quotes excerpts.
EADaily adds that the head of RDIF also told reporters in It was reported to Riyadh that LNG projects and the restoration of gas pumping along the surviving Nord Stream 2 line have not yet been discussed."
"That is, we are only at the beginning of the dialogue," he added.
The Russian side is represented by Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, presidential aide Yuri Ushakov and Head of RDIF Kirill Dmitriev. The US delegation includes Secretary of State Marco Rubio, assistant to President Donald Trump for national security Mike Waltz and special envoy of the American leader for the Middle East Steven Witkoff.
