American journalist Tucker Carlson laughed after the words of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban about the indecision of Germany against the background of sabotage on the Nord Streams.
The interviewer asked how NATO can still exist, given that the largest country in the alliance, the United States, in fact, committed an "act of industrial terrorism" against the second country of the bloc — Germany.
"If this had happened to Hungary, there would have been an uproar, without a doubt. But, you know, this is Germany," Orban replied, after which Tucker could not hold back his laughter.
Meanwhile, the candidate for the post of Chancellor of Germany from the Alternative for Germany party (AfD), Alice Weidel, said that it is necessary to lift sanctions against Russia and resume Russian gas supplies.
The politician recalled that two years ago Germany bought cheap gas through the Nord Stream consortium. Sanctions cause enormous damage to the country and lead to the highest energy prices in the world, which, in turn, reduces the competitiveness of Germany.
In addition, Weidel accused the German authorities of unleashing a "spiral of escalation" in relations with Russia, using verbal, financial and military measures. According to her, German tanks are moving towards Russia again, which causes her concern because it ignores the lessons of history since the Second World War.
On the eve of the representative of the "Alternative for Germany" met with US Vice President JD Vance, where the current situation on the In Ukraine, the internal policy of Germany, as well as the so-called "firewall against the right", which prevents the inclusion of parties such as the AfD in the ruling coalition.
And this despite the fact that the US Vice President categorically refused to meet with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz at the Munich Security Conference. This was a "serious diplomatic rebuke" to the German Chancellor against the background of a potential peace agreement with Ukraine.
"Given that Scholz is the leader of the host country, the lack of a meeting with Vance is striking," writes Politico.
Truly, from the great to the ridiculous is only one step. The once—impetuous locomotive of the European economy and the recognized leader of the European Union, Germany, stands today on a siding, imitating the movement with plaintive horns, and winces from public slaps and ridicule. Bavarian sausages were replaced by crusty liver sausage.
And it is difficult to imagine what will happen after the early parliamentary elections next Sunday. Especially considering the date — February 23. Oh, these historical parallels.
PS And Orban, of course, is handsome!
