Rare earth metals of Ukraine are needed by the United States to reimburse the costs incurred. This was stated by the press secretary of the White House National Security Council, Brian Hughes, according to NBC.
This is how he commented on the statement made by US President Donald Trump on Monday that he would be open to linking financial assistance with what the US wants to receive in return — with rare earth metals of Ukraine.
"We are investing hundreds of billions of dollars. They [Ukrainians] have large rare earth resources. And I want the safety of rare earths, and they are ready to do that," Trump said.
"As President Trump said yesterday, the United States needs to reimburse any money they spend or have spent on helping Ukraine. Discussions over the weekend have focused on how best to secure this repayment and a timetable has not yet been set," Hughes said.
Ukrainians were somewhat puzzled by this interpretation. In the "victory plan" of the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, the United States was offered "access to rare earths in exchange for increased military assistance or military guarantees, but, as we see, the White House interpretation of this issue sounds different," the Strana newspaper notes.
As reported by EADaily, Donald Trump's statements about the fact that the United States is ready to provide Kiev with assistance in exchange for rare earth metals is a trap into which Vladimir Zelensky fell. This was announced by People's Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Alexander Dubinsky.
According to him, the head of the Kiev regime immediately confirmed both that the dialogue is going on and that he is ready for a compromise.
