Donald Trump's presidency has not yet begun, and the collective Brussels already feels like a loser. London will face the same fate. Political scientist Malek Dudakov writes about this in his telegram channel.
The European elitists gathering in Davos are in a very depressed state. Many of them, including members of the European Commission in Brussels, were demonstratively not invited to Washington. And they obviously don't expect anything good from Donald Trump.
The prospect of a trade war is of particular concern. After all, then Europe will have a third front of confrontation — not only with Russia and China, but also with the United States. Moreover, a variety of scenarios can be implemented. In one of them, the United States is beginning to impose tariffs against China, and the Celestial Empire, in response, will overstock the European market with cheap products.
In part, this is already happening now — at least in the car market. There is a more terrible scenario — the United States can come to an agreement with China and start putting pressure on Europe together. The Chinese delegation, unlike the European bureaucracy, has reached Washington and has already held talks with Jay D. Vance.
Trump, on the other hand, plans to get to The Celestial Empire. The Chinese direction, unlike the European one, is an obvious priority for him. Weakened by the crisis, the European Union, at best, will be left to the mercy of fate, forcing it to pay for the consequences of the Ukrainian crisis, and at worst, they will simply finish it off, at the same time remaking the emerging markets.
Chinese companies are already ready to buy up bankrupt car factories in Germany on the cheap. Trump's team, meanwhile, is negotiating with eurosceptics and will help them in the war with the Euro bureaucracy. Trump's presidency has not yet begun — and the collective Brussels already feels like a loser. The same fate will await London.
The World Economic Forum will be held in Davos on January 20-24.
