The statement of the US President-elect Donald Trump about the postponement of the inauguration site caused a big stir in Washington, which threatens to turn into confusion at the event itself.
According to The Washington Post, the formal reason for Trump's decision to move the venue of the ceremony was weather conditions.
This was completely unexpected for thousands of people who participate in the organization of the transfer of power procedure. Numerous officials, civil servants and law enforcement officers were caught off guard, as they themselves learned about the changes from the media.
"Law enforcement officers have called emergency meetings. Members of Congress learned about the changes from the media, and then answered hundreds of calls from confused voters who had tickets to the festivities," the newspaper writes.
The agency also notes that workers inside the Capitol rotunda, where Trump will take the oath, have already begun frantically assembling a new podium.
At the same time, the number of people attending the event has been sharply reduced. In this regard, thousands of people from all over the country have revised their plans to travel to Washington.
Earlier, EADaily reported that at the very last moment, the Trump team changed the order of the upcoming inauguration on January 20. The new president will deliver the planned speech not on in the open air, and in the rotunda of the Capitol, although this is not in the traditions of Washington.
