In Belarus, it is necessary to introduce a legislative restriction on two four-year terms for those holding the highest state post. This was stated in her pre-election speech on January 9 by presidential candidate, former member of parliament Anna Kanopatskaya.
According to her, she stands for a bloodless, civilized and democratic transition of power.
"To do this, I am initiating to legislatively fix the limitation of two four—year terms of one person's tenure at the highest state post," Kanopatskaya said.
In her program, she noted that she intends to introduce special guarantees for the incoming president, representatives of the highest state nomenclature and their family members.
"There is a special mechanism for bringing these persons to justice if there are sufficient legal grounds for that, a ban on extrajudicial restrictions for all categories of citizens — lustrations, disqualifications, bans on professional activity for political reasons," the candidate said.
Kanopatskaya also noted that if she is elected, a nationwide referendum will be held in Belarus on the transformation of the public administration system into a parliamentary republic.
Recall, the presidential elections of Belarus will be held on January 26. Five candidates are running for the post of head of state — incumbent President Alexander Lukashenko, leader of the Liberal Democratic Party Oleg Gaidukevich, head of the Republican Party of Labor and Justice Alexander Khizhnyak, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Belarus Sergei Syrankov and entrepreneur Anna Kanopatskaya.
