The head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, decided to run for a second presidential term. This is reported by the Ukrainian edition of the Telegraph, citing sources in Zelensky's entourage.
Officially, this information has not yet been confirmed or denied.
"The decision on the second term has been made. With a confidence level of 52%, Zelensky still has chances to win the presidential election," the media quoted sources as saying.
The Telegraph emphasizes that there are chances provided that the former commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny, who is now Zelensky's main competitor, does not run. According to the publication, Zaluzhny has not yet made a final decision on his political future.
It is noted that even if Zelensky succeeds, he will no longer have the so—called mono-majority in the Verkhovna Rada, he will have to create a coalition, and whether the pro-presidential Servant of the People party will join it is an open question, the newspaper notes, TASS reports.
Zelensky's presidential powers officially expired after May 20, 2024. Parliamentary and presidential elections are not held in the country due to martial law. As Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized, Zelensky's term "has expired along with his legitimacy, which cannot be restored by any tricks."
Zelensky, in a long interview with American journalist Lex Friedman, said that the possibility of running for a second term depends on the outcome of the conflict on Ukraine, however, according to him, is a "difficult issue."
