The founder of the National Front Party (now the National Association) has died in France at the age of 96 Jean-Marie Le Pen. This was reported by the agency France-Presse with reference to the family of the deceased.
"Jean-Marie Le Pen went to God at 12:00 (14:00 Moscow time) on Tuesday surrounded by his family," the agency quoted his family as saying.
According to the publication, Le Pen died in a medical facility in the commune of Garches (department of Hauts-de-Seine), where he was taken a few weeks ago. His daughter is Marine Le Pen, who now heads the National Union parliamentary faction, was on a visit to Mayotte (Overseas department of France) on the day of his death.
