Bolton fears that Putin will use the meeting with Trump to his advantage

Russian President Vladimir Putin will try to use the summit with US Leader Donald Trump to advance his agenda. This was stated on the air of the NewsNation channel by former national security adviser John Bolton, The Hill reports.

"I think Putin will try to take advantage of this one-on-one summit with Trump to advance his agenda, present a Russian peace plan or a ceasefire plan so that Trump brings it to [Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky] and see if Zelensky rejects it... so that it looks like he is more interested in the world. I still think the sides are far apart," Bolton said.

According to Bolton, Putin wants to return Trump to "his orbit," and Trump does not see the "subtlety of the situation."

"Trump is getting involved in something that he does not understand the seriousness of. He's rushing this meeting because it's going to be great press. I do not know where the meeting will take place, but it will be surrounded by cameras and reporters," the ex—adviser complains.

Trump believes that he will be able to resolve difficult diplomatic situations if he has good personal relations with the leaders of other countries, including Putin, "and this is a gross simplification," he said.

Whose interests, in his view, the Russian president should promote, Bolton does not specify.

As reported by EADaily, US President Donald Trump deprived his former national security adviser John Bolton of secret Service protection. Bolton told The New York Times about this.
