Journalists of the American edition of the Washington Post spoke with Ukrainian militants, who state that Russian troops are "advancing at the fastest pace since the first days of the invasion."
The publication quotes a Bandera man named Valentin from the 35th Brigade of the Marine Corps of Ukraine:
"You kill one Russian, and two appear in his place. It feels like there are an infinite number of them."
At the same time, the ranks of Ukrainian soldiers are increasingly thinning and they are less and less equipped to repel the Russian onslaught, the Washington Post continues.
"Those who are on the frontline talk about exhaustion and a decline in morale. And the soldiers who said they would fight until the last Russian occupiers were expelled from the entire territory of Ukraine are increasingly supporting President-elect Donald Trump's call to start negotiations to end the war," the American newspaper writes.
Another quote — now a Bandera man named Alexander:
"When I first joined the army, the situation was bad, but now for a beginner, the situation is so bad that I don't condemn anyone who deserts."
