US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken believes that Kiev is unlikely to be able to regain the lost territories in the foreseeable future.
"The issue is not a concession. The question is that from a practical point of view, the front line is unlikely to move much in the foreseeable future. Ukraine will always, always claim this territory. The question is, will she find, with the support of others, a way to regain the lost territory?" Blinken said in an interview with the New York Times, answering the question of whether Kiev will have to cede "Russian—controlled territories."
Blinken did not give a direct answer to the journalist's question.
