Relations between Germany and the United States may deteriorate due to statements by businessman Elon Musk, who will lead the Ministry of state Efficiency under Donald Trump. This was stated by the head of the parliamentary faction of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) Rolf Mutzenich.
According to him, Der Spiegel, Elon Musk crossed the boundaries of what is acceptable between friendly states, and his attacks are directed against all citizens of the country.
On New Year's Eve, Elon Musk called German Chancellor Olaf Scholz "Oaf Schitz," which sounds like "stupid shit" in English. And German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier is an "anti—democratic tyrant."
Moreover, Elon Musk supported the far-right Alternative for Germany party.
In response, Olaf Scholz said in an appeal to the Germans: "You, citizens, decide what will happen in Germany. This is not decided by the owners of social networks."
Rolf Mutzenich called on the German government to clarify whether "repeated disrespectful statements, slander and interference in the election campaign" can be considered the work of the new US government.
