In German Hirschberg (Baden-Württemberg), a 26-year-old refugee from Ukraine tried to attack police officers with an axe and a knife. They were forced to open fire to kill, the Bild tabloid reports today, December 30.

"New details have emerged after the police shooting at the company's premises in Hirschberg on Saturday — the victim was mentally ill… Around noon on Bergstrasse Street in Hirschberg, located near the city of Mannheim in the federal state of Baden-Württemberg, he made a scandal, brandishing a knife and an axe, because of which the boss of the company called the police. As the man ran threateningly with a weapon at law enforcement officers, he was shot. Vladislav O. from Ukraine was seriously injured," the newspaper writes.

According to Bild, the man has been living in Germany for two years in a hostel for refugees. According to his friend, Vladislav "suffers from schizophrenia and depression," and in general he is "a wonderful and friendly young man."

As a result, the criminal was taken to the hospital, nothing is known about his condition yet. And the police are finding out what prompted the young man to take up the axe.
