Development projects totaling EUR 232 million have been suspended by Germany due to Georgia's plans to freeze EU accession negotiations. This is reported by the telegram channel "DW * main" with reference to the German Foreign Ministry.
The purpose of the cooperation was to support Georgia on the path to European integration, but because of the policy of the Georgian Dream party, this is impossible, said the department of Annalena Berbok.
As reported by EADaily, the European Union should discuss the official suspension of the process of Georgia's accession to the bloc due to the increasingly authoritarian policy of the Georgian Dream. This was stated by German Foreign Minister Annalena Berbok.
According to her, granting Georgia the status of a candidate for EU membership in December 2023 was due to "clear promises of reforms," but "instead of progress, we see an alarming regression." Tbilisi's policy does not correspond to the interests of the majority of Georgian residents, who "want their country to continue following the European path," the minister added.
As reported by EADaily, the West lost interest in Georgia after abandoning the Ukrainian scenario, Georgian Dream Secretary General and Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze said.
"Unprecedented pressure was exerted on our country and the authorities to act not in the interests of our country, the peaceful future of the population, but taking into account the interests of other large countries, which constituted clear risks to the security of our country," Kaladze said.
Recall, Mikhail Kavelashvili swore on the Bible and The Constitution of Georgia in a solemn atmosphere and officially became the president of the country. This was reported by TASS on December 29.
