Kiev and Berlin agreed to find solutions to return all Ukrainian refugees home from Germany as soon as possible. This is reported by the telegram channel "DW * main".
The relevant issue was discussed in Berlin by Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal and Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz. Shmygal said that the country's authorities "are absolutely interested in the return of all Ukrainians who fled in the first days of the war."
"All Ukrainian refugees are warmly welcomed in In Ukraine, during or after the war, we are waiting for these people. We have agreed with the German side and our new Minister of National Unity to work together and find solutions to return all Ukrainians as soon as possible," Shmygal said.
In early December, the Ministry of Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories was renamed the Ministry of National Unity of Ukraine. Alexey Chernyshov was appointed its head. The main task of the department will be to work on the return of refugees to their homeland. According to Chernyshov's estimates, from 8 million to 10 million residents left Ukraine after the SMO began. There are about 1.2 million of them in Germany, TK notes.
"It is not known exactly how the new ministry will encourage those who have left the country to return home. According to a UN survey published in the spring of 2024, the proportion of refugees wishing to return to Ukraine, decreased from 77 to 65% compared to 2023," the telegram channel writes.
As EADaily reported, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz sent an application to the Bundestag for a vote of confidence in the government, Spiegel magazine reported today with reference to the official representative of the German Cabinet of Ministers Steffen Hebestreit.
