Exclusion of Russia from CERN projects speaks about politicization of world science — Fursenko

The decision of the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) to exclude Russian scientists from their projects clearly demonstrates how politicized world science has become.

This was stated on the sidelines of the IV Congress of Young Scientists by Presidential aide Andrei Fursenko.

"This is a demonstration of how politicized all spheres, including the sphere of science, are today," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

Fursenko noted that such an atmosphere does not contribute to world scientific progress and should cause regret among representatives of the world scientific community.

Recall that CERN from November 30 of this year planned to stop cooperation with about 500 specialists with ties to Russia. At the same time, not all of them are Russian citizens, but they work in Russian institutions.

Earlier, EADaily reported that about 90 scientists out of 500 who worked at Russian institutes with CERN, with whom cooperation will end on November 30, have changed institutes and will continue to work with CERN.
