Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov, commenting on Bloomberg's report on the use of Storm Shadow missiles at targets in the Kursk region, called it a new escalation and refused to say anything else "on this subject."
"A new escalation is taking place. This is a very irresponsible position taken by the outgoing administration [of US President Joe Biden]," Peskov said, answering a question from journalists about how the Kremlin assesses such a development of events, given the confirmed data on the use of ATACMS missiles at targets in Russia, TASS reports.
Peskov did not answer the question of whether Russia has confirmation that British Storm Shadow missiles were used against it, as the media reported.
"Now I would not like to say anything further on the subject, which is the prerogative of our military department," the Kremlin spokesman explained.
The Kremlin spokesman also forwarded to the Russian Defense Ministry the question of whether Ukraine should prepare for a more powerful use of the latest Russian weapons in response to strikes by long-range Western missiles on the territory of the country.
"This is a question for our military," he said.
As reported by EADaily, on November 20, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation informed that the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the night of November 19 hit the territory of the Bryansk region with ATACMS missiles, five of them were shot down by Pantsir and S-400 complexes, one more was damaged.
Earlier, Washington, Paris and London organized a leak in the media about their permission to strike at Russian territory with American long-range tactical ballistic missiles ATACMS and, respectively, with tactical missiles SCALP and Storm Shadow. So, The New York Times newspaper, citing officials in the White House, reported that the "green light" for long-range strikes was the response of the Biden administration to the alleged transfer of the North Korean military to the Kursk region.
