The Ministry of Health of Kazakhstan has created a special group that will record citizens' complaints about depressive states caused by a reduction in daylight hours. This was announced at a briefing by the head of the department Akmaral Alnazarova.

"After the decision to transfer the time by the Ministry of Health, a monitoring group was established on the basis of the National Public Health Center, which monitors the health indicators of the population and requests for medical care. At the moment, there is no positive or negative dynamics. At the same time, we are preparing a project for long-term monitoring on a scientific basis over the next three years. After that, we will be able to provide scientifically based information. There were no other complaints from the public. That is, in order to speak reasonably, we need to record a certain increase or surge in requests. This is not observed today," Alnazarova said.

According to her, she herself does not experience a depressive state and does not complain about her health.

On the night of February 29 to March 1, 2024, Kazakhstan switched to a single time zone, which, according to many citizens of the republic, affected their well-being. The Government of the country began to receive complaints. Mostly from residents of the eastern part of the republic (nothing has changed in the western part), where closer to winter people began to wake up in the middle of daylight, and darkness began to set in an hour and a half after lunch. In this regard, people often began to sink into a depressed state.

The petition of citizens for the cancellation of the transfer of time collected the necessary 50 thousand signatures. However, the Kazakh authorities refused to satisfy it, citing the lack of data on the negative impact on the health of citizens.

Meanwhile, complaints continued to arrive. The authorities responded by creating a monitoring group in the Ministry of Health, which will study the issue for three years.
