Moldovan President Maia Sandu, who is running for a second term and is supported by the pro-Western Action and Solidarity party, is leading in the second round of presidential elections with 51.68% of the vote. The former prosecutor General, dismissed by the Sandu regime, a native of Gagauzia, a candidate from the opposition Party of Socialists, Alexander Stoyanoglo, has 48.32%, the Central Election Commission reports after processing 95% of the protocols from the polling stations.

He recognizes the importance of Russia for the Moldovan economy and sees it as an important partner with whom Moldova should maintain stable relations in order to avoid the negative consequences of sanctions and crises.
In the first round of elections, Sandu won 42.45% of the vote, Stoyanoglo - 25.98%. The second round will be won by the candidate who receives the majority of votes, RIA Novosti reminds.
