The Cabinets of Ministers of Kazakhstan and Russia signed an agreement on the joint use of the telephone code "+7". The document on this has been published in the information and legal system of regulatory legal acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
"The Government decides to approve the attached draft Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and The Government of the Russian Federation on the joint use of the numbering of the 7th zone of the world numbering," the document says.
The resolution is put into effect from the date of its signing.
Earlier it was reported that in order to obtain a separate code in 2021, Kazakhstan reserved the international telephone code "+997".
"During the study with telecom operators of the issue of switching to a new code, it was noted that the transition to a new code is feasible, but entails a number of financial and technological problems," the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan explained.
The department added that at the same time, all subscribers will need to update their data in absolutely all services to receive government and banking services, social networks and various applications. Accordingly, during the transition period there is a high probability of failures and negative experiences.
"The Ministry held repeated negotiations with the International Telecommunication Union, and it was decided to leave the international code "+7" unchanged," the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan concluded.
