Construction of Afghanistan's largest transport and logistics terminal has begun in the capital of the northwestern province of Herat. This was announced today, September 13, by the Ministry of Transport and Aviation of the "Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan" (the self-designation of the country by the Taliban *).
The terminal worth more than $ 20.5 million is being built on the principle of public-private partnership (70% are private investors). It will occupy 0.4 square kilometers of land near the Khoja Abdullah Ansari International Airport, where 4,000 people will work.
"This project is one of the most important projects for Herat province, especially the western zone," said Habibullah Samadi, project manager.
The authorities expect that the new terminal in Herat will reduce the number of traffic jams and accidents that caused the movement of heavy trucks. At the opening ceremony of the construction, they called on entrepreneurs and investors to invest in the country for economic growth and job creation.
