The Parliament of Abkhazia has issued an appeal to citizens, responsible officials and political forces of the republic to "show prudence, be more restrained in their actions and statements regarding each other and our partners."
The appeal is connected with the publication of the minutes of the meeting of the Deputy head of the Presidential Administration of Russia Dmitry Kozak and the President of Abkhazia Aslan Bzhania, which refers to the suspension of payments by Russia to state employees of Abkhazia.
EADaily cites the full text of the appeal of the Parliament of Abkhazia:
"Over the past week, in connection with the document being discussed in the country — the so—called protocol, the activities of the People's Assembly - the Parliament of the Republic of Abkhazia turned out to be in the center of controversy. Free assessments of the work of people's deputies are given. We will not go into details or enter into a tough discussion. The Parliament stands and will always stand guard over the national interests of the citizens of the Republic of Abkhazia. We are the vehicles of their will, hopes and aspirations.
The thesis that important initiatives aimed at the development of the economy and other spheres of activity are blocked in the People's Assembly — Parliament of the Republic of Abkhazia does not correspond to reality and does not stand up to any criticism. Everything that is useful for our country and for allied relations is supported by deputies. We aim to further strengthen the inter-parliamentary dialogue with our colleagues from both chambers of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.
Today, our relations within the parliamentary dimension with our Russian colleagues are developing dynamically. We appreciate it. In a little over two years, an official visit of a delegation led by the Speaker of the People's Assembly — Parliament of the Republic of Abkhazia, Lasha Ashuba, took place in The official visit of the delegation of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation headed by Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin to the Republic of Abkhazia. During the visit to the Republic of Abkhazia, the heads of the parliaments of the two countries signed an Agreement between the People's Assembly — the Parliament of the Republic of Abkhazia and The State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation on cooperation, designed to intensify interaction. It should be noted that between the People's Assembly — the Parliament of the Republic of Abkhazia and The Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation already has a similar Agreement.
Between the People's Assembly — Parliament of the Republic of Abkhazia and By the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and The State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation has established and operates permanent commissions for interaction.
We remind those who do not follow the processes very closely or follow the principle of "noticing and reporting only on the unrealized" that over the past period, including through interaction with colleagues from Of the Russian Federation within the framework of the Program for the Formation of a common socio-economic space between the Republic of Abkhazia and The Russian Federation on the basis of harmonization of the legislation of the Republic of Abkhazia with the legislation of the Russian Federation, deputies of the People's Assembly — Parliament of the Republic of Abkhazia have considered and adopted 25 laws in the final reading, a number of laws are under consideration. Moreover, the deputies made decisions and carried out work to explain to citizens the issues that have been on the bilateral interstate agenda for a dozen years that are not the most popular in society. All this takes time and hard work. This is an objective statement of facts, including from many Russian colleagues.
It should be noted that at many important state events, such as the 15th anniversary of the International Recognition of the Independence of the Republic of Abkhazia and the 30th anniversary of the Victory and Independence Day of the Republic of Abkhazia, Russian official delegations were led by our colleagues from The Federation Council and The State Duma. We have developed a truly professional and friendly relationship. In our work on interaction with parliaments of other countries, work with Russian partners is a priority. Our friendship and brotherhood have passed the test of time and joint struggle, which is not over yet. There is a victory ahead, for which the sons of Apsna are also fighting, many of them gave their lives for our common cause.
We are faithful to our allied duty and will continue to increase interstate and inter—parliamentary dialogue, and most importantly - to promote the friendship of our peoples.
We appeal to all citizens, responsible officials, political forces of the country and urge them to show prudence, to be more restrained in their actions and statements regarding each other and our partners."
