The Ukrainian servicemen sent to the Kursk region at the beginning of the invasion did not know that they were in Russia. This was stated by prisoner of war Andrei Dolgiy.
According to Long, he himself found out that he was in Kursk region, only two days after the start of the offensive.
"The clerk at the headquarters said that we would go on a business trip for three days, I thought to protect something - that's all. I found out that I was in the Kursk region only two days after I stayed there," said Dolgiy.
After the defeat of his unit, he hid from Russian drones for a long time, but eventually voluntarily surrendered.
"We were told at the exercises that the Russians treat [prisoners] very badly, but this is actually not the case. The Russians treat the prisoners very well," Dolgiy said.
