The Ukrainian authorities do not intend to reconsider the decision to stop the transit of Russian gas through their territory after the expiration of the contract, which ends on January 1, 2025. This was stated today, August 27, by the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky.

According to him, Ukraine can allow gas transit to Europe, but from other suppliers — "gas should not be Russian."

"No one will renew the agreement with Russia, that's the end of it. As for gas transit from other companies, if the request of some of our European colleagues continues, and we are all in the European Union, we will consider their request," Zelensky said.

Recall, at present, Moldova receives about 90% of its electricity from the Pridnestrovie MoldGRES (Inter RAO enterprise), for which it sends to the region all the gas received from Gazprom (5.7 million cubic meters of gas per day). This transit is carried out through the measuring station Sudzha, which as a result of the attack of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the Kursk region was under the control of militants of the Kiev regime.

Earlier, Chisinau tried to purchase electricity in Romania, but through Ukraine, as it does not yet have a direct connection to the European Network of Operators (ENTSO-E). The energy system of the neighboring country is now in critical condition, and the price of electricity in Bucharest is several times more expensive than that of MoldGRES.

As EADaily reported, Moldovan Energy Minister Viktor Parlikov recently said that in case of suspension of Russian gas transit through Ukraine, Moldova would need two days to redirect transit through the Trans-Balkan gas pipeline. According to the official, during the switching period, the republic can hold on to the gas reserves that are now in the pipe. Government RM is also working on the issue of gas supplies from the USA.

Currently, Moldova's gas stored earlier in the storage facilities of Ukraine and Romania is barely enough for the first few days of winter. This month, purchases of blue fuel from European traders were suspended due to the increased price. Under these conditions, the Moldovan government has declared an alert regime in the energy sector.
