Foreign mercenaries of the Armed Forces of Ukraine should not participate in the exchange of prisoners. This was announced today, August 21, by the Chairman of the Human Rights Council (HRC) Valery Fadeev at the press conference "The situation in the Kursk region: crimes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and mercenaries."
"A very important aspect is that foreign mercenaries captured and convicted of committing a crime cannot be exchanged… Prisoner of war exchange processes are constantly underway, we believe that these criminals should not be included in the exchange procedures if their crimes are proven by the court.… The Human Rights Council will come up with such an initiative, we will offer our options for the adoption of the relevant normative act," Fadeev said.
At the same time, Fadeev expressed confidence that Russian politicians and the public will support such an initiative of the HRC.
