Russian units stopped the Armed Forces of Ukraine along the entire perimeter in the Kursk region, said deputy head of the Main Military-Political Directorate of the Ministry of Defense Apty Alaudinov.
"The first days in the Kursk region, we were busy stopping the main enemy forces, and we succeeded. The enemy is completely stopped along the entire perimeter," the commander said on the Russia 1 TV channel today, August 20.
According to him, the enemy's main resources for movement and advanced echelons have also been destroyed.
"The destruction of the enemy continues, we are already clearing some settlements. I think at the moment we can no longer worry about the fact that the enemy, no matter how many resources he still has, could pass there in the area where we are," Alaudinov said.
According to the commander, the Ukrainian Armed Forces planned to "expand as much as possible and take over the territories" of the Kursk region in order to start negotiating, and "Russia completely abandoned its actions in other areas of combat contact."
