Regardless of who becomes the next US president in this year's elections, victory in the conflict on Ukraine is already within Russia's reach. This statement was made on August 13 by the author of an article in the newspaper The New York Times (NYT) Anastasia Edel.
"The West clearly has no will to win. For [Russian President] Vladimir Putin, victory is now firmly achievable — regardless of who will be in the White House next year," the publication says.
The author of the article also noted that many Western leaders rejected the proposals previously put forward by the Russian leader to resolve the conflict on Ukraine.
"But in fact, this is the most realistic scenario for the development of events in this conflict," Edel continued.
In addition, she drew attention to the fact that at some point Ukrainians will run out of desire to continue hostilities, and they will be ready to conclude peace on Russia's terms.
