Attempts of breakthroughs of enemy troops on the Kursk front have been stopped — Ministry of Defense

The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation has published an official statement on the situation in the combat area in the Kursk region.

The corresponding text was published on Thursday, August 8, on the official resources of the military department.

It says that the units of the North group of forces, together with the FSB of Russia, continue to destroy the armed formations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Sudzhensk and Korenevsky district of the Kursk region.

"During the day, the active actions of the state border protection units together with border guards, reinforcement units and reserves, air strikes, missile forces, artillery fire prevented the enemy from advancing," the ministry assured.

Our troops carry out the fire defeat of the identified concentrations of manpower and equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and stop attempts to break through individual units deep into the territory in the Kursk direction, the press service said.

It is also noted that the Russian combat aircraft strikes at the advancing reserves of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Sumy region.

According to the Ministry of Defense, during the day the enemy lost up to 400 military personnel and 32 armored vehicles, including a tank, four armored personnel carriers, three infantry fighting vehicles and 24 Kozak armored combat vehicles.

According to the calculations of the military department, since the beginning of hostilities in the Kursk direction, enemy losses have amounted to 660 military personnel and 82 armored vehicles, including eight tanks, 12 armored personnel carriers, six infantry fighting vehicles, 55 armored combat vehicles and a barrier engineering vehicle.

"The operation to destroy the Armed Forces of Ukraine continues," the Military Ministry concluded.

Earlier, EADaily reported that according to British intelligence, the Russian army is transferring five brigades and combat aircraft to the Kursk region to form strike groups.
