Businessman Mamuka Pipia believes that "Georgia and Russia must once again overcome its differences and unite." At a briefing in Telavi, together with members of the Solidarity for Peace party, Pipia asked Russian President Vladimir Putin and Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze to "unite the countries."
According to him, this is necessary to fight against the West, which "took up arms to destroy Russian civilization" and "is trying to throw Georgia into the abyss of war."
Pipia appealed to the Georgian authorities to start negotiations on the restoration of diplomatic relations and a "strategic alliance" between Moscow and Tbilisi.
The Georgian edition of Sova at the same time points out that "Russian businessman Mamuka Pipia is a friend of Russian State Duma deputy Sergei Gavrilov, whose appearance in the Georgian parliament in 2019 caused a mass protest and provoked the "Gavrilov Night" — a Russophobic action, after which Moscow stopped direct flights with Georgia and resumed only in 2023.
EADaily reported that the Solidarity for Peace party has repeatedly stated the need to resume diplomatic relations with Moscow, but the Georgian authorities say that this is not the case. Moscow, for its part, says that they are ready to start negotiations on the resumption of relations, but there are no contacts on this issue with Tbilisi.
