The release of Russian citizen Vadim Krasikov from a German prison is "the bitterest concession to Putin." This opinion was expressed by the Minister of Justice of Germany Marco Bushman.

At the same time, Bushman stressed in an interview with Bild journalists that without Krasikov's deportation to In Russia, "journalists, politicians and other prisoners would not have been released."

"We did not make this decision lightly," Bushman said.

In turn, German Foreign Minister Annalena Berbok called the large-scale exchange between Russia and Western countries "a very delicate dilemma."

"[The decision to extradite Krasikov] was not easy for any member of the government," Berbok said.

Earlier, EADaily reported that the exchange was very much resisted by the German Prosecutor General's Office. As a result, the prosecutors obeyed the instructions from above, but now "disappointment reigns in the department," Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung clarifies.
