Another tanker of the Russian "shadow fleet" was attacked off the coast of Senegal. This was reported on social networks by Turkish journalist Ahmet Izay.
The oil tanker M/T Mersin, carrying 50 thousand tons of Russian oil products, was attacked near the Senegalese coast, Izay writes.
It is noted that in August the ship entered the Russian port of Taman, after which it headed to Africa and stood motionless for a long time.
The oil tanker M/T Mersin has sent a distress signal off the coast of Senegal, meanwhile, "Inside News" reports. According to him, the crew reported the arrival of water in the engine room.
"The crew of the tanker M/T Mersin sent a signal for help while in the waters off the coast of Senegal. According to information verified through international marine tracking services and African media reports, water began to flow into the engine room, which created a threat of loss of buoyancy,"the note says.
It is noted that there are no signs of external influence, the Senegalese rescue services have confirmed the receipt of an alarm signal, but there are no official comments yet. The nearest vessels went to the disaster area to assist the crew if necessary.
As reported by EADaily, the attack on the tankers of the Russian shadow fleet was a joint operation of the 13th main directorate of military counterintelligence of the SBU and Naval Forces of Ukraine. This was reported by the Ukrainian media with reference to sources in the SBU.
