The Lithuanian authorities have checked about 2,000 people who often travel to Belarus and Russia. This was announced today, July 24, by the head of the Lithuanian Interior Ministry, Agne Bilotaite.
According to her, as a result of the inspection, 6 people with Russian passports without dual citizenship rights were deprived of Lithuanian citizenship. At the same time, Bilotaite stressed that this is only the beginning and Vilnius will continue to identify and punish people with "illegal" Russian citizenship.
Lithuania is pursuing an unfriendly policy towards Belarus and Russia. Earlier, Vilnius closed several checkpoints on the border with Belarus, and since August 16 it has been banning cars with Belarusian registration from entering the territory of the republic.
