All Russian journalists need to leave Ukraine’s territory, says Leonid Kalashnikov, head of the State Duma Committee for CIS, Eurasian Integration and Compatriots.
According to him, Russia’s statements and appeals to international organizations over arrests and assassinations of mass media representatives in Ukraine have not resulted in the world’s proper reaction. The parliamentarian recalled that yet not so long ago Russian parliament passed a statement over arrest of RIA Novosti-Ukraine editor-in-chief Kirill Vyshinsky, but now they started murdering journalists in Ukraine.
“Of course, we will study Babchenko’s case as well, but a plenary meeting is hardly possible. We have already said then if they blatantly arrest a journalist, not intelligence officer, to exchange him with a terrorist, perhaps our journalists need to leave Ukraine. They have nothing to do there. We cannot prevent this. They have resorted to murder already,” RIA Novosti quotes Kalashinikov as saying.
As EADaily reported earlier, Babchenko was reportedly murdered in the entrance of his house on May 29.
Anton Gerashchenko, a representative of Ukrainian Interior Ministry said he was shot in the back and died on the way to hospital.
