Russia hoped that the meeting of US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un in Singapore a significant step would be taken towards easing up the situation on the Korean Peninsula, so Moscow is sorry that the talks are canceled, Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced at a news conference.
He believes that North Korea fulfilled its promises by exploding tunnels and shafts at the nuclear polygon. “But after that we heard that the meeting was canceled by the United States. We hope that the dialog will be resumed and continued and the meeting will take place. Without such meeting, one can hardly hope for a substantial progress in solving the very important issue not only of regional nature, but of global nature, I mean de-nuclearization of the Korean Peninsula,” Putin said.
US President Donald Trump decided not to meet with Kim Jong-un on June 12, as it was planned before.
