According to independent estimates, in the period from 2000 to 2017, about $ 430.7 billion was illegally withdrawn from Russia, Viktor Bondarev, chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Defense and Security has announced, as RIA Novosti reports.
According to him, the illegal withdrawal of capital from Russia is one of the key problems, and if solved this can significantly influence the implementation of breakthrough opportunities in various sectors of economy. "These are huge financial resources that could be invested in the domestic economy development," the senator said.
To counteract economic crimes, the Committee on Defense and Security proposes a number of measures. "Putting in place a legal and institutional setup aimed at the timely identification and suppression of imaginary, feigned transactions" is among them. The committee also proposes to improve the system of organizational and information interaction of law enforcement and supervisory bodies.
Earlier, EADaily reported that Rosfinmonitoring (the Russian Federal Financial Monitoring Service) has found offshore operations of Russian officials worth billions of rubles. This was stated by the head of the department Yuri Chikhanchin. According to him, Rosfinmonitoring regularly analyzes such materials as the Panama, Paradise and English Papers, according to which thousands of foreign companies are controlled by Russian citizens. And, in turn, many representatives of the governor's and deputy corps are connected with them. The results of the analysis of the materials were sent to law enforcement agencies.
