Yeni Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijani ruling party, has claimed Ilham Alyiev’s victory at the early presidential election in Azerbaijan. “We suppose that in the next seven years, Azerbaijan will be developing and strengthening under the leadership of Ilham Aliyev. These years will be the years of the country’s development,” the party executive secretary Ali Ahmedov has said at a news conference.
According to an exit poll conducted by ELS Research Center, the current president is leading the race with 82.71% of the votes. As ELS Director Irada Yagubova said, Gudrat Hasanguliyev from the Azerbaijani Unified Popular Front is running second with 4.23% of the votes.
The final turnout at the presidential election in Azerbaijan is 74.51%.
