Kazakh Foreign Minister Kairat Abdrakhmanov believes that Russia and the USA must launch a constructive dialog on Syria. He made the statement today at a meeting of foreign ministers from Iran, Russia, and Turkey.
“Successful cooperation of these two influential powers in settlement of the situation in Syria will meet interests of all parties concerned and the Syrian people in general,” the minister added. According to him, the international community became witness to a series of dangerous clashes that resulted in growing violence, including the de-escalation zone.
“The new military actions resulted in numerous victims among civilians, including women and children. We continue insisting that the troubling distress of the Syrian people must be stopped. Civil citizens of Syria have been suffering severe losses during the conflict. What we see in Syria now not only puts the regional stability under threat, but undermines efforts of searching for political settlement. The agreements reached in Astana must be on paper only. They must bear noticeable results,” Abdrakhmanov said.
Today, a meeting of foreign ministers from countries - guarantors of the ceasefire in Syria. It was attended by foreign ministers of Russia, Turkey, and Iran. Sergey Lavrov, Mohammad Javad Zarif, and Mevlut Cavusoglu signed a joint statement on results of the meeting.
