After Victoria Nuland, United States Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, visited Ukraine, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has submitted a bill to the Supreme Rada to provide a special status to Donbass constitutionally, Ukrainska Pravda newspaper writes referring to its sources.

According to the paper, earlier they suggested formalizing the self-government of certain districts in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions in the transitional provisions of the bill of Constitutional amendments. Now, Poroshenko suggests formalizing the status in the main text of the Basic Law.

The paper writes the steering committee has already supported the president-suggested amendments. On July 16, the Supreme Rada will study the issue to put it on the agenda and submit it to the Constitutional Court.
