Russian Navy Command will increase the number of its submarines in the Black Sea Fleet by two as early as at the end of the year, says Captain Igor Dygalo, the Russian Navy representative.
For the time being, there is only one submarine “Alrosa” at Russia’s Black Sea Fleet, with three more Project 636.6 vessels Varshavyanka, Novorossiysk, and Rostov-on-Don to join them by the end of the year, Lenta.ru quotes Dygalo as saying. The vessels will be based in Novorossiysk where special infrastructures have been created for it.
In addition, the officer says, four new submarines of the same project will enter the Black Sea Fleet next year, two of which are currently being built in Saint Petersburg.
